Wondering if anyone has any insight into what the parking situation will be? I am looking forward to this season and getting together before matches.

Not sure about parking particulars, but there will absolutely be pregame gatherings. And postgame. More info soon!

If nothing else, we've got Against the Grain to patronize before and after.

The Coopers marching down from Whiskey Row singing what ever songs 30 minutes prior to kickoff would be cool. Coming from Troll Pub or there abouts....and of course, grabbing one last quick drink from AtG!

So we've come to an important argument that the other board members and I are having: do we want to march from Whiskey Row, or march from teh parking lot. I am a believer that marching from Whiskey Row instead of tailgating is the better option, but I may be able to be convinced.

I also prefer the march from Whiskey Row. Easier to plan (vs. a tailgate - are you bringing the hot dogs, or the buns, this time, and who's got the grill?), not weather-dependent, and a helpful way to demonstrate the economic impact of soccer as we hold onto our vision of a soccer specific stadium. Plus, the (slightly) longer march wold be awesome.

I'm in favor of the march from whiskey row. I think massing people onto 1 road for a straight shot will look better than meandering out of a parking lot. Also I like the idea of supporting the local pubs and businesses. We can block off that road and have a tailgate type event with food trucks and sponsor tables and such behind whisky row prior to the march.

Hey everyone... Andy here... first post.. just found this forum today... thanks for setting it up!
Has anyone been in contact with the restaurant/bars on Whiskey Row to see if they'd be interested in being the official pregame spot?
I was thinking that it would be cool to have a spot with an outdoor drinking area where we would be visible... plus I think being outside lends itself to more debauchery, which I personally am in favor of... only place on Whiskey Row I could think of like that was Manny & Merle, which is a pretty cool spot. Whatever bar we end up patronizing should hook it up for pregame festivities... drink specials, beer tubs outside so we don't have to crowd around the bar for refills, music etc...
Love the idea of loudly marching down to ATG for one last pregame beverage...
Looking forward to this season yall!

I feel like we are answering the question, and a march from Whiskey Row is the way to go! We show our pride as well as kill any unwanted calories with the (slightly) longer walk. haha
With that said, I dont care what WE do as long as WE do it. I'm a huge fan of the EPL and am biased as to how they go about their footballing days. So a pub close, a nice walk in with some songs, and spending the day with you guys is how I'd like to spend tailgating.
Coopers could easily work with a bar on Whiskey Row and make it our "Home". What I dont get understand is, Why March from one pub to another? Shouldnt we march from pub straight into the ground? So do we start at AtG and walk to Whiskey Row with some singing...continue pre game and march back to Slugger from Whiskey Row and staight in?

Against the Grain has already shown support for Elsie. Why seek another restaurant or bar on Whiskey Row as the official pregame spot? AtG should be it.

It's not so much an abandonment of AtG as it is a logistics and expansion issue. The march from AtG to Slugger is down a hall, or at best, around the stadium, whereas a march from Whiskey Row will (hopefully) shut down a street. Plus, for those of you paying for memberships, we'd like to have your membership get some discounts at palces, so in order to get those, we have to increase the locations of our patronage. Again, if you can convince me as to why we should march either from AtG alone or even farther down Main street, I'm open to suggestions.

I think a March to the Match is a necessary part of a SG, especially in the respect of getting new fans. I think is it perfectly cool to patronize a few local watering holes and to claim them as LCFC Game Day Territory. Molly's is a little over a mile from the stadium, and nearly anyone could reasonably walk that in 30 minutes. We could then hang around ATG after the games.

I think we should have one big tailgate and march from whiskey row the rest of the time. July 4th would be perfect. Invite the public, advertise the crap out of it as much as we can on social media and if we get any time on radio shows near the date(maybe getting the FO to throw us some shoutouts especially if Lou city is doing any type of radio or tv Ad's for the game.)
Let the community see what we're about and get them sold on the amazing atmosphere you can only find at a soccer game. Have it someplace public with foot traffic to draw in randoms and maybe convince them to come out, give away a few tickets to the days game and some merch.

Where is there a Molly's close to Slugger Field? I only know of St. Matts and Baxter. . .Oshea's is down that way.

I think he's talking about the one on Baxter, which is 1.6 miles from Slugger (too far, IMHO). If he's talking about the O'Shea's on Main, then it is exactly a half mile from Slugger. I think that whole Main St. corridor between 1st and 2nd Streets is where we should be focusing on for a pre-game march to the match starting spot. I've suggested Manny & Merle because it's the only one with an outdoor area right on Main, which makes for high visibility and a better spot to post up (remember, it's gonna be summer time most of the season). Other spots with respectable bars in that stretch are Impellizzeri's, Bearnos, Sol Aztecas (has another name now), Troll Pub (on Washington), and BBC (on Main & 3rd). Although I really like the idea of marching a few blocks, but it all kind of depends on what Against the Grain does for the games. If they make an effort to cater to the fans, ie. adding additional outdoor beverage serving stations, opening up additional outdoor space, cranking music and whatnot to get the atmosphere going, then it's gonna be hard to pass up just hanging there before games. Not a very long march to the supporters section, but who cares, it would be fun times.

I was. Is a mile and a half too much of a walk? Ah well. A mile and a half is a perfectly reasonable walk, but in this context I just don't think that's the right direction to be coming from. My thought was that you would want be be downtown, near the stadium, for visibility, access, and the like. If the pre-game festivities are all downtown, you can park close to Slugger, walk to pre-game venue, march to game, and then go home (provided you have a DD .

So here's some notes from yesterday's tifo committee meeting about this very thing: Our options that were presented at the meeting: 1. Tailgate only – We would have a tailgate in the parking lot behind Whiskey row. There would be a place for families to congregate.
2. March Whiskey Row only – We would meet up 1 to 4 hours before the match (4 hours for weekend, 1 hour for weekday) at any of the businesses on Whiskey Row for pregame, then 30 minutes before, march together along Washington Street to Slugger Field.
3. March 4th Street – Same as 2, but with the added distance of marching from 4th Street Live!
4. March 10th Street – Same as 2 but with the added distance of starting from Falls City Beer.
For the record, Option 2 was seen as the more favorable option if we had to pick just one, but the group is incredibly favoring a combination of Options 1 and two: the families will tailgate, the rowdy crowd will drink at WR, and as the Support Section marches along Washington street, the families will join in.
No matter what decision is ultimately made, the march path would start at the outfield Gate to Slugger and go clockwise around the stadium to the supporters section.
The big hangups about 4th Street and 10th Street (and even though it was not mentioned, I would assume that it would be the same for Baxter Avenue) is distance: people will not want to walk a mile and a half, especially if imbibed. Only the hardest of the hardcore would even be open to do it, and we're talking 10-20 people MAXIMUM. There just isn't enough incentive to travel the large distances

Also, don't forget that if it's raining, people aren't going to want to march 10+ blocks

So you all are talking maybe marching from Whiskey Road or somewhere around there... but have anyone thought to walk from Garage bar in Nulu? its .3 miles walk and still pretty sweet bar and outdoor area.
