For those of you going to Chicago tomorrow, you might want to read our summary of the details (including info where we are tailgating, cost of parking, what we can and cannot bring in, etc.
Anyone wanting to join our convoy up to Chicago, we'll be leaving the Walmart in Clarksville on Veterans (near the Taco Bell / Gas station) at about 12.30 - come over and say hi!
THE BIG TRIP TO CHICAGO!
If you’re going to the USOC game in Chicago, it will help to read this
All Away Fans should park at the Visiting Supporters Tailgate lot – 7300, W 71st St, Bridgeview IL. The parking lots open at 4.30 CT. Parking is $15 per vehicle.
We are welcome to tailgate there. As it’s a gravel lot, so we are asked not to bring glass bottles
As the away fans, we have to enter the ground at 6.30 CT. Consequently, we will be having an away “March” at about 6.25.
Away fans should enter by Gate F, which is less than 10m walk from our lot
Smoke bombs, pyros of any kind, vuvuzelas, aerosols are prohibited – same list for their fans as for us. Bringing in your own food or drink is also a no-no
Flags are welcome. Flagpoles may be no more than 4 feet in length, must be pvc
I asked about flag size, he said is was no biggie – as long as flags don't interfere with other sections, it's cool (official rules say 3*5)
Flags that are directly offensive (think Bayern V Arsenal) will be taken from us. Similarly commercial stuff. Otherwise, we should be ok
Drums and musical horns are ok. Again, no Vuvuzelas.
There will be security waiting for us, mostly the usual common sense stuff, ensuring we aren’t being interfered with and that we aren’t responsible for offensive or incendiary behaviour ourselves
Organised cheers featuring abusive language will attracted added attention – let’s be our better selves, folks.
Unfortunately, as is common, away fans will be leaving the stadium last, 15m after the game ends – may be a chance to practice chants!
We’ve a few contacts with Section 8 and other Chicago fans, if we want to arrange a scarf swap – let Martin (foreign type driving the van up) know.
