So, the rivalry with St. Louis is growing, and the Kings Cup is a thing that is happening. With four games coming up, we need to be organised. Anyone got ideas how we can make THE rivalry of the League?
Certainly, I am hoping that we get a couple of buses going downstream in May and in September for a start.

So as a transplant to the area, let me ask what might be a dumb question and obvious to everyone else... what's at the core of the rivalry? Looking at the great rivalries in football, it's easy to sum up what makes two teams really want to put the business to the other one. So for us, why St. Louis?

Both new to the league, geographically we are close to one another, both cities were named for King Louie. We both have a fluer di lies on our crests. They have an active fan base that is will to engage in an active rivalry.

There's also the fact that Louligans existed prior to them as UofL's soccer supporters group. Granted its college and not professional, but still. Their supporters group is quite active and banter quite well. As of right now the rivalry is rather friendly, but I'm sure as games are played we'll have plenty of cause to dislike each other and further fuel the rivalry.

A few of their members have been a bit salty at times, but all in all, it's been pretty fun. Once the matches begin, however, no quarter will be given!

What was the other club that wanted a 3way rivalry? Saw something about it on twitter but wasn't paying attention to details.

Pittsburgh was interested in the rivalry, however their distance from both us and St. Louis makes that a bit hard to do. If Cincinnati were to get a team in our league, I could easily see the formation of the Ohio River Cup (or some other name based on the Ohio river) between Cinci, Pitt, and us.

An Ohio River Cup would be fantastic.

If that were to happen, the last game of the rivalry each season would have to be in Louisville. That way it would Finish at the Falls.

I can't wait to be down there on the 28th for the season opener. It's going to get silly on an epic scale.
Have you guys started any plans for the road trip here?

I'm ready for these special prices for members and will be making the away trips to St. Louis. Friendly is okay, but nothing like a good hatred. We have that going for us in college basketball. If anyone needs help planning the trip, I'd gladly help.
Is a St.Louligan allowed on our chats?

Hulk, the St. Louis crowd is allowed in here. We want it to be a good rivalry, but that's not possible if those saps don't get the chance to learn from us!

The Heretics will be there is full force to show those rubes what fandom truly looks like. Are there any rules we need to know for signage, etc?

Keep it clean(ish). If you wouldn't say it in front of a class of elementary school kids, don't put it on the sign.

Is there going to be or is there already an actual cup that goes to the supporters group of the winner of the Kings Cup?

Is there going to be or is there already an actual cup that goes to the supporters group of the winner of the Kings Cup? Yes. We're working on it with the St. Louligans - it gets awarded at the end of the season.

Cool. Are things like The Kings Cup usually determined by aggregate? Or is it determined by the point system (3 points for a win, 1 for a tie, 0 for a loss)?

Cool. Are things like The Kings Cup usually determined by aggregate? Or is it determined by the point system (3 points for a win, 1 for a tie, 0 for a loss)? The team with the most points from regular season matches between the two wins the Cup. Goal difference will serve as the first tiebreaker if the teams are tied on points, and away goals will be the second tiebreaker. If the teams are still tied after that, then the holder from the prior season keeps the Cup. Because this is the inaugural season for both teams and the Kings’ Cup, there’s no prior winner, so if we’re tied on points, goal difference, and away goals at the end of this season, the team that’s higher in the table wins. Makes that last match in St. Louis a little more spicy, doesn’t it?
